Before our renovation began, this classroom was plain and boring. The walls had mold growing on them (a
common problem here in Albania), and the paint was chipping off in some places.
We got rid of the mold by scrubbing the walls and ceiling with bleach. Before starting however, we put on our old
clothes, shower caps to keep from bleaching our hair, and handkerchiefs around our mouths and noses to reduce
the fumes from the bleach. Not very hi-tech - but it worked!
Now the painting could begin. While John painted the classroom, Emma, Megan, and Moriah began painting the
desks and benches. Then Megan and Emma scrubbed the floor of the classroom to remove dried on paint drips.
Yay! Painting done. Megan, Moriah, Emma, and John pose for a snapshot before moving the
rest of the desks and benches back in to the freshly painted classroom.
After a little decorating with a butterfly theme, this classroom is back in business! What in
improvement from the plain and dirty walls before! More pictures of the decorations and pictures of
the other classroom coming soon!
