Qendra e Shpreses
For I was an hungred, and ye
gave me meat: I was thirsty,
and ye gave me drink: I was a
stranger, and ye took me in:
Naked, and ye clothed me: I
was sick, and ye visited me…
Verily I say unto you,
Inasmuch as ye have done it
unto one of the least of
these my brethren, ye have
done it unto me.
Matthew 25:35-40
Qendra e Shpreses (Hope Center).
Our kitchen is a wonderful blessing - we cook meals for
about 35 people at a time here.
We have a wood-cook stove as well as a gas cook-top for
cooking.
Recently painted and decorated, our classroom is so bright and
cheery!
Although still in need of some more decorating, this room holds
classes for about 19 first graders.
Welcome to our school! The door opens into a large
entryway that leads straight into the first grade classroom.
The center has a very nice bathroom with an American toilet
and, although not seen in this picture, a bathtub.
The view of our yard from the center's roof, complete with
basketball hoop.
Our large lawn, complete with monkey bars is a big hit with the
kids!
The Lord really blessed with this center - giving us a building that was far above our
expectations!
Qendra e Shpreses (Hope Center) opened on June 1, 2007.
The Hope Center houses a school, a band-aid clinic, and a food distribution center
for needy Roma families.
The girl's school consists of two classrooms.
The first classroom taught by Yzedin Hajdari, teaches 19 first graders Albanian,
reading, writing, math, and manners.
The second classroom taught by Megan Mays, teaches 11 girls kindergarten.
The band-aid clinic takes care of any minor ailments the children or their families
might have, including cuts and scrapes, sores, bee stings, etc. Because of lack of
sanitation in the villages, many children die from infection that started with just a
small cut. This clinic helps to educate the children about cleanliness and prevents
infections from getting worse.
The food distribution center helps the needy families of our students. Every week
each family gets a bag containing a few items such as rice, pasta, beans, oil, salt,
soap, shampoo, bread, and more.
You can see some pictures of the Hope Center below.
